In a home or business, the look of hardwood is unique. Thanks to its strength and durability, Canadian wood flooring is an excellent alternative to metal or plastic. It can be styled, shaped, stained and finished to create any mood. We offer a 10 coat CRYSTAL finish that is one of the hardest finishes available on the market and is backed by a 25 year residential warranty.

Canadian wood has long been the preferred material for flooring, in today's homes, and provides a warmth and comfort that contrasts beautifully with marble, stainless steel or tile.

SPECIES
We offer pre-finished flooring in a variety of species with our most common hardwood flooring being Maple, Birch, Oak and Ash. We also produce custom flooring in walnut, cherry or aspen. We also pre-finish softwood species such as tamarack, pine, hemlock and spruce.

GRADES
We offer pre-finished flooring in the following grades:

SELECT:
Has a face practically free of all defects, but the natural color of the wood shall not be considered a defect. The highest standard grade, combines appearance and durability.

Will admit the following: variations in the natural color of the wood (with use of some finishes, slight shadows and color variation may appear); an occasional small, firm pin knot, not over 1/8" in diameter, provided it does not occur on edges or ends of strips; occasional dark green or black spots or streaks not over 1/4" wide and 3" long (or its equivalent), which may contain a tight check not over 1/2" long, provided it is boxed within the piece; bird's eyes and small burls; slightly torn grain; or similar defect which can be readily removed by the ordinary method of sanding the floor after it is laid; a slightly shallow place not over 12" long on underside of the flooring if it does not extend to either end of the piece. Pieces with 1/2 tongue for no more than 25% of the length are allowed. The wood must be sound and free of shake. Bark streaks shall not be permitted.

CHARACTER:
Our character grade consists of 85 to 90% of the select grade above combined with the some of the high grade colonial below, to give a floor with a bit more “character “than the higher grade select.

COLONIAL:
Our colonial grade develops from the material graded out from the higher grade flooring. It includes all defects such as knots, burls, heartwood, mineral streaks, stain, small cracks and splits and will be of such character as will lay and give a good serviceable floor. The wood is firm, serviceable and all defects are repaired prior to pre-finishing. Pieces with 1/4 full tongue admitted. This grade will not admit open knot holes unsound knots where the unsound portion is over 1" in diameter; voids on ends or edges; or shake, heart checks, badly split ends and imperfections in manufacture which would materially impair the serviceability of the floor.

WIDTHS
We offer pre-finished hardwood flooring in 2.25” and 3.25” and wider widths are available as custom orders. Standard softwood widths are 2.25”, 3.25”, 5.25 and some species are available in 7.25”, 9.25” and 11.25”. We can also custom manufacture any widths for repairs to older floors or to match up in historical restorations.

INSTALLATION
We offer installation anywhere on PEI and could have our installers travel to any parts of the Maritimes depending on the circumstances.
