Our most abundant species. Fast-growing and majestic. Brillant-coloured autumn foliage. Versatile, with excellent working properties. Suits almost any product

Color
Sapwood is ivory white with a slight reddish-brown tinge. Takes a beautiful finish, unmatched by other woods. Heartwood light grayish brown to dark tan.

Physical Properties
Heavy, strong, stiff. Resists shock and marring.

Working Properties
Excellent. Takes a variety of stains and finishes well. Very good bending qualities.

Applications
Musical instruments, sporting goods, furniture, mouldings, architectural millwork, cabinetmaking, kitchenware, work benches, flooring, decorative trimmings, etc.

Price
The sapwood is more valuable and more expensive than the heartwood.
